Team 853 Takes Third in New York

The Bellarmine Mock Trial Team finished 6 and 2 at this weekend's Downtown Invitational hosted by New York University, and that record was good for third place.

The team defeated Cornell, UC-Irvine and Furman, and only lost to eventual champion, Harvard University.  Senior Staci Windsor was named the top attorney in the entire competition, which featured teams from Princeton, Yale, Cornell, Michigan, Columbia and Duke, among others.

In addition, sophomore Sarah Bogrett earned individual recognition as one of the top 10 witnesses at the tournament.

The team competing was Bellarmine's younger team, featuring sophomores Bogrett, Connie Kremer, Thomas Pedron, Ariel Edlin, and Torrence Williams, and freshmen Dustin Bye, Elizabeth Rogier and Chris Glick. The team was bolstered by the addition of Windsor and junior Samantha Gusentine, who typically compete with the more senior team.

Both the younger and more senior teams will be in action this weekend at the Derby Challenge, which will close out Bellarmine's fall invitational season.
