Bellarmine Places 6th out of 26 Teams at First Annual Pohlmann Invitational

The first tournament of the season is in the books, and the coaches of the Bellarmine Mock Trial team are very pleased with the performance.

Team 852, featuring 5 returnees (Staci Windsor, John James, Mark Witten, Alex Flood and Dhea Villar) and 5 newcomers (Thomas Pedron, Chelsea Brown, Connie Kremer, Ariel Edlin and Mari Graham), finished in an 11-way tie for third place.  After a tie-breaking procedure considering the strength of opponents faced, Bellarmine placed 6th out of 26 teams present.

Bellarmine enjoyed four close, competitive rounds against Missouri-Kansas City (twice), Miami (Ohio), and the University of Texas.  Bellarmine swept the first round against Missouri-Kansas City and split the judges' ballots in the subsequent three rounds.

First year Bellarmine Mock Trial team member Chelsea Brown, participating in her first mock trial tournament at any level, earned a witness award for her portrayal of Billy Kraus, the former girlfriend of the defendant.

Bellarmine will have two teams in action this weekend at the Robert Sanders Invitational in Lexington, which is hosted by Eastern Kentucky University.
